Very often, when you have to troubleshoot your surroundings (but also for some Protuts tutorials), it is very useful to know the version of your operating system: 32/64 bits, Premium, Ultimate, SP1... The procedure in the article.

Open the start Menu, right-click on Computer and opt for Properties.

The window of System properties opens:

The first part tells us about the Windows edition used: Starter, Premium, Professional, Business and Integrale ; and whether or not there is a service pack (here the SP1 is installed).

As a reminder, the service pack is a set of stability, security and feature addition updates that Microsoft publishes via Windows Update for its different OS.

In the second part, referred to as System, we can know the type of system used: 32 (x86) or 64-bit (x64), very useful information when downloading software to make sure it is compatible.

The procedure for Windows Vista is similar.

A very simple and easy-to-access procedure that every user needs to know.
