Installing an operating system from a USB stick is an increasingly common method, possible with Windows 7, MacOS X and Linux. We're talking about Live USB, which allows you to install and test the system in the same way as a live CD. This tutorial will teach you how to create your live USB for Linux Ubuntu 11.10 from Windows.
Step 1 — Download Ubuntu 11.10
You know, we first need to download the ISO of the latest version of Linux Ubuntu:
Ubuntu 11.10 (662.8) MiB, 4.597 downloads)
Step 2 — Download Linux Live USB Creator
This Windows utility will allow us to create your live USB assisted way.
Linux Live USB Creator (4.3) MiB, 7,320 téléchargements)
Step 3 — Installation of Linux Live USB Creator
Once downloaded, double-click the executable and follow the different installation steps.
First click on the traditional Next. Then choose the installation path and then do Install.
Wait for a few moments, the time of installation.
To finish, click on Close.
The software then launches automatically. This one is a bit special visually speaking, but still remains effective!
Now follow the steps in order:
- Insert your USB stick and select it from the drop down list;
- Indicate the location of the Ubuntu ISO file;
- Check all the boxes in step 4;
- Click on the flash to start the installation process;

Wait a few minutes: your Ubuntu 11.10 USB stick is ready!
All you have to do is restart and boot your PC to test and/or install Ubuntu. Note that it is likely that the BIOS is not properly configured to boot on a USB stick.
To go further, know that you can also install Mac OS X or Windows 7 from USB stick.

Good morning,
I'm not sure but to test
Be careful, too!
After creating my USB drive successfully I discover that all my hard drives have been renamed “LinuxLive Key”. Unable to change the name so far.
The live usb works very well, only I do not have Internet access, no wired or wifi
I had already tried with a CD, and the internet walked smoothly.
thank you
Unable to boot on mac:-(
