If you insert a USB stick on your PC, sometimes a dialog box asks you to scan and repair your device or pass the operation. Here’s the solution to get rid of it permanently.
N.B. : first of all, note that this trick will also have the effect of deactivating the automatic execution of the hardware which usually displays a window of the most common standard actions depending on the hardware connected.
Open the start Menu then enter services.msc and press the key Entry.

The Windows Services window will then be displayed.
Look for the following service and double-click it:
Core Hardware Detection

So click on the button Stop then choose Disabled in the choice list of the boot type.

A warning tells you that another service will be disabled. Validate as many times as necessary.
Insert a device like a USB stick again and notice the absence of any automatic repair or run warning system.
To restore the default system, reactivate the service.
This simple trick solves once for all this scan bug of a allegedly damaged device although it may have some interest in the event of a real failure... it’s up to you to choose!

I do not recommend your readers to have fun deactivating this key. In manual mode, I got a Blue Screen that forced me to reinstall!
Reinstall Windows?
Very interesting tuto, thank you.
Yes, alas! By the way, you tested your “trick”?
Thank you for this Aurélien tutorial:
After plugging in a GPS (Garmin brand...) that worked great, don't let the “worry” utility of Windows7 scan and repair: The device is good to return to the SAV!
Strange...
The trick works for my keys and discs except a Seagate Freeagent Go USB: I just got the usual message “Wish to scan and repair...” while the service is still disabled!
I‘m pointing out that I imposed a letter on this reader, I don’t know if that’s the cause...
Similarly, it has no effect with my discs (assigned letters).
Ah, on my other computer it works even with an assigned letter, both in Windows 7 x64... mystery.
Super it works impeccable, don't listen to Denis who says he turned off a key while it’s just a service... Thank you!
Hey thank you! Win7 erases partitions on usb keys if you choose repair! (3 scrap key) Never repair with windows...! Now I'm looking for a prog to redefine the score...... and it’s impossible because even the MBR is erased! If there’s a wizz kid reading me...... i need the solution SVP!
Peace!

It doesn't work.
Hello, it doesn‘t work or it doesn’t work.
It works “nickel”... it’s been just a few months since I've been looking for this trick. Wow.. what a happiness!
thank you it works
