The bootscreen of Windows 7 can be easily customised thanks to a software called Windows 7 Boot Updater whose tutorial is here.
Please note: this software modifies Windows system files. Experts only! We would not be held responsible in case of problems!
Download Windows 7 Boot Updater
Start by downloading Windows 7 Boot Updater for free. No need to install it, it is a portable application that works with all editions of Windows 7, 32/64 bits.

Creating your custom boot screen
Note that the software is translated “approximately in French”. The tab Start-up is in reality Resumed session and Make a donation corresponds to Start-up, etc...
Edit the different fields as you like and visualise the result in the right side. You can do your own animation but you will have to create 105 images of 200×200 pixels located in the same folder and named 001 to 105. The animation is read at 15 images/seconds, 4 “normal” seconds + 3 seconds looped until the end of the boot.
As soon as you are satisfied with the result click on Background to update the boot files.
To test the result, restart your PC.
Restore the original boot file
The software makes a backup of the original files with each modification. In case of boot failure, run the recovery console (F8 at boot) and enter these lines (provided that C is your system partition, otherwise change the letter accordingly):
C:
CD \Windows\System32
del winload.exe
ren “winload~1.exe” winload.exe
exit
A great tool to customise the entire Windows 7 startup! Cool, right?
Thank you I didn't know this software. This complements the themes of Windows 7.
Nice I made the intro of james leap for the start
Thank you, it’s nice this software, well it’s not what a vital thing but it’s funny. Thanks for sharing I'll have some fun
At my house it planted as soon as it was launched (Win7 32bits), didn't you?
Tested on multiple 32-bit and 64-bit PCs: No problems encountered.
Neither am I... Windows 7 Ultimate Edition 32x, it’s not even worth starting: “Win7BootUpdater.exe stopped working” even before seeing the interface...
For the “approximative” translation, there is just one lag problem: indeed, the translator slipped a white line too...
beta version... I'd rather not touch the boot with that!
Hi I can't take an animated boot screen for what?
..and it is since I have been silent about this program that I have started to have blue screens...and then imposibilite to reinstall...c tjrs messages concerning:
\Windows\System32
del winload.exe

Good morning,
I installed a SSD (Samsung 840Pro 128 GB) and cloned my Windows 7 Premium Family Edition on it with the software provided. Only when I get started, I don't have the usual animation anymore. Small video here: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x224mbk_mah00821_tech
It is possible to replace this inconvenience with a blank screen (opening MSConfig and ticking the “Do not start the GUI” box in the Start tab. I would like to know whether, like Vista, it is possible to replace this blank screen with a fixed image?
Under Vista, it was this image: http://fud.community.services.support.microsoft.com/Fud/FileDownloadHandler.ashx?fid=1d909ad4-62d2-4f4f-bb01-cc8868d10d14
Thank you.
